Nestled in the countryside of Prosperity, South Carolina, Deep Roots Academy is a private Christian school created for families who desire something more thoughtful for their children without sacrificing academic excellence.
Here, students engage in rigorous, classical academics that challenge growing minds, alongside meaningful, hands-on work like gardening, caring for animals, and exploring the natural world. Faith is woven naturally into daily learning, bringing knowledge, science, and stewardship to life in ways that honor how children were designed to learn.
Deep Roots Academy was founded by Kerry and Maggie, brought together by a shared conviction that childhood—and faith—deserve to be protected, not rushed.
For Maggie, that conviction grew through her experiences as a mother to three daughters and years spent navigating daycare and public school options that never quite felt right. Through those seasons, she found herself in constant prayer, asking God to show her a better way forward, one that honored innocence, curiosity, and the formative years of childhood.
For Kerry, the calling was shaped through years in the classroom and a deep commitment to thoughtful, child-centered education. With a Master’s degree in Montessori education and extensive experience guiding students of varying ages and abilities, she developed a profound respect for the way children learn best—through curiosity, independence, and meaningful work. Leaving the traditional classroom was heartbreaking, yet the vision of building something more intentional never faded. Years later, watching her own son struggle under the pressure, testing, and expectations of standards that didn’t serve the whole child, she felt God clearly say, “Now.”
Together, Kerry and Maggie stepped forward in faith to build what they felt was missing—a small, Christ-centered school where children are known, learning is meaningful, and education is rooted in truth, stewardship, and purposeful work.
At our school, we strive to create a nurturing environment where every child can flourish. Our mission is to blend innovative education with a strong moral foundation, enabling students to grow academically and spiritually.
Morning Academics
Mornings at Deep Roots are devoted to focused, classical academics in small learning pods. Children spend this time building strong foundations through reading, phonics, handwriting, spelling, early mathematics, and number and shape recognition. Lessons are intentional and developmentally appropriate, allowing children to engage deeply with their work while forming habits of attention, perseverance, and confidence as learners.
Afternoon Learning
As the day unfolds, learning naturally extends beyond the classroom and into the outdoors. Afternoons may include nature walks, shared lunches outside, time in the garden planting and tending crops from seed to harvest, and hands-on activities such as preserving the harvest, baking sourdough, or caring for animals. These experiences bring learning to life—connecting academic concepts to the real world and inviting children to use their hands, senses, and curiosity as part of the learning process.
Faith at Deep Roots is not an add-on or a lesson block. It is naturally woven into our days through conversations, prayer, and the way we treat one another. Children are encouraged to ask questions, grow in wisdom, and develop a faith that is lived, not performed.
With small class sizes, our teachers are able to offer thoughtful, individualized guidance that meets each child where they are; academically, emotionally, and developmentally. Rather than being limited by a specific grade level, students are encouraged to move forward as their understanding grows, allowing learning to unfold at a pace that supports both confidence and mastery.
For our inaugural year, Deep Roots Academy will be accepting children in K1 and K2 up to 6th Grade. We are intentionally starting here so that we can build strong foundations, meaningful relationships, and a school culture rooted in care and excellence. Enrollment is limited to ensure small class sizes and individualized attention for every child.
Tuition for one child is $9,000 for the academic year. This reflects our commitment to small class sizes, personalized instruction, and a learning environment that blends strong academics with hands-on, meaningful experiences.
In addition to tuition, there is a non-refundable annual registration fee of $300, due at the time of enrollment, and a $600 supply and activity fee per student, due each year prior to the start of the school year. These fees support classroom materials, curriculum resources, and enrichment experiences throughout the year.

At Deep Roots, children are taught according to their individual skill level, not simply by age or grade. This means children who need more time are gently supported, and children who are ready to move ahead are encouraged to do so. Our small class sizes allow us to truly meet each child where they are and help them grow with confidence and joy.
Yes. As Deep Roots Academy grows, we plan to add additional grade levels over time, prayerfully and thoughtfully. Our goal is to expand in a way that preserves the heart of our school—small classes, strong relationships, and intentional learning—rather than growing too quickly.
Deep Roots will operate from a temporary location for the 2026–2027 school year while we prepare and build our permanent home. Families can expect the same small learning pods, classical academics, and hands-on experiences described throughout our vision.
Pre-registration at Deep Roots Academy is the first step in getting to know one another. Because we keep our class sizes small and our community close, we take time to thoughtfully review each submission and make sure our school is the right fit for the families we serve.
